The Learning Revolution
The Learning Revolution is a Government White Paper published in March 2009 that describes a new vision for informal learning. The paper recognises that although informal learning can be a good way to develop work related skills there is real value in other types of learning even if this is just for fun or to develop new skills or interests. The Government supports informal learning as it can bring great benefits to individuals and communities. The Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills has launched the £20m Transformation Fund to support and strengthen the wiring that connects the enormous variety of learning opportunities available. For more information visit the DIUS for further information.
East Tenders have pledged to support this strategy. By signing the pledge we have agreed to:
• support the core principles of informal learning and encourage others to sign up
• advocate wider participation, especially for those who have benefited least from learning
• find flexible ways of using our existing spaces, or opening up new spaces, for learning
• encourage and support learning organised by people for themselves
• embrace new ways of learning, including the use of technology and broadcasting
• find and work with new partners to increase learning opportunities
• celebrate our successes
